GameEnthus Podcast ep20: Kevin Butler’s Kool-Aid or Convenient things on Highways

Posted in Podcast on October 1st, 2010 by Ind1fference

This is no ordinary week as one of your hosts has played more games on a Sony platform than any other. We made a couple changes to the show outline, hope you like it. If not, just laugh at our jokes and pretend you do. 3DS, Halo Reach and unfair game comparisons are just a few of the topics we touch upon this week. Feel free to leave us, hopefully positive, feedback on itunes and/or the Zune Marketplace. When you’re done listening check out our forums @ GameEnthus.com/forums. You can also leave us some voicemail @ (202) 573-7686

I have 2 gripes with the NXE. One is that the visual friends list is too much for me with 99 people on my friends list. The second is that Netflix does not have Killer Klowns from Outer Space available for streaming. That actually has nothing to do with the NXE, so I guess I have one gripe.

I went into Halo 3 and I got the message that my NAT was not open. Then I remembered that I reset my router so off I go to change those settings. I didn’t know what my 360 IP was so I went to the system blade and I noticed that my primary/secondary dns were not using opendns. So I changed my dns server settings and ran the XBL test and I get a message saying that an update is available. That update was NXE. Nice

The NXE hype is dying…

Like many gamers and movie watchers I was looking forward to subscribing to Netflix once the 360 Dashboard overhaul aka NXE was released(Nov 19th). The icing on the cake was news that Netflix would be doing HD streaming. Then the bad news came when it was discovered that HD streaming would only be allowed over HDCP compatible displays. I have an older rear projection HDTV so looks like no HD streaming for me. Sucks.
